A family farm rooted in Brentwood

Diablo Cherries is owned and operated by a family of farmers who have worked the rich clay soils of Brentwood for six generations. In 2016, mother, daughter, father, and son-in-law joined together to establish Diablo Cherries Farm and open our orchard to the community.

We prune our trees to keep the fruit low and easy to reach — perfect for kids and families. Come experience the joy of picking your own fresh cherries straight from the tree.

Rainier
Yellow Post

Lapin
Red Post
Rich, winey sweet
Our last variety to ripen most years — and well worth the wait. Extra-large, dark mahogany cherries with a firm crunch and exceptionally sweet flavor. If the Lapins are ready, you're getting the best of the season.

Picking tips

🌿
Pick with the stem onCherries last significantly longer when picked with the stem intact. Twist gently rather than pulling the fruit off.
👀
Look for deep colorThe darker and more uniform the color, the riper and sweeter the cherry. Avoid pale or patchy fruit.
🤏
Feel for firmnessRipe cherries should feel firm but not hard. Soft or mushy spots mean overripe — leave those on the tree.
🌳
Check the inner branchesThe best fruit is often tucked inside the canopy, underneath the large leaves, or nearer to the trunk. Get close to the trunk, crouch down, and look up!
🧊
Keep them coolGet your cherries into a cooler or fridge as soon as possible to lock in freshness and flavor.
💧
Don't wash until ready to eatKeep your cherries dry after picking — moisture shortens their shelf life. Wash only just before eating to keep them fresh longer.
🌞
Pick in the morningCherries are firmest and coolest in the early hours. Beat the heat and get the best fruit by arriving when we open.
👋
Say hello to our greeters!Make sure to stop and chat with one of our greeters at the orchard entrance — they'll point you straight to the best fruit available that day. With large crowds and warm weather, variety availability and the location of the best fruit can change quickly. Our greeters will have the most up-to-date information. Don't be shy!
